Bucks Fizz star tries out Care UK’s dementia training

Care UK’s expert on dementia, Maizie Mears-Owen found herself with a rather well known trainee last month when the 'Mail on Sunday' invited Bucks Fizz singer Jay Aston to give her verdict on our new dementia training course.

Jay spent a day on a special Care UK course, experiencing what it might be like to live with dementia.  The course is normally reserved for staff who work in Care UK homes.  Jay’s late father, Ted Durante, developed Alzheimer’s disease in the late 1990’s and Jay was able to relate the training to her father’s experience.

Jay will star in the Bucks Fizz 30th anniversary gig at the London Palladium on 11th July in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation. The new Bucks Fizz album is called Fame and Fortune.
